Patriot Center receives new scoreboard, LED signs
|A new center court scoreboard was installed in the Patriot Center just before last week’s Homecoming game. The new additions give the 20-year-old building a needed face-lift.

Tuesday, Feb. 14 Women's hoops falls to Hofstra, 82-70|As the women’s team walked off the floor Sunday afternoon, their heads spoke of disappointment but their actions on the court spoke of effort. After being down by as many as 13 points mid-way through the first half the George Mason women’s basketball team used strong offensive rebounding and scoring runs to bring the game to within two points. A valiant effort, but Mason couldn’t shake Hofstra as the fell on their home court 82-70. Baird to sing anthem at Nationals game|Baird said he’s not sure what specific game he will be performing at, but he’s looking forward to the opportunity to sing in front of a crowd of 20,000 to 30,000 people at Nationals Park in D.C. Men's hoops takes down Hofstra to stay first in the CAA|In yet another closely contested game, the Patriots (20-6, 12-2) survived by a final count of 72-62 over conference foe Hofstra (8-18, 2-12) Wednesday night in the Patriot Center to remain tied for first place in the CAA standings with VCU and Drexel. After a sluggish performance for nearly 35 minutes, George Mason played the final stretch like a newly inspired group on both ends of the floor. “I thought at the end of the game we executed very, very well,” head coach Paul Hewitt said. Baird delivers crowd-pleasing anthem|With almost 9,800 pairs of eyes pointed his way, Jordan Baird, junior music major and walk-on for George Mason University’s basketball team, opened the Homecoming game with the national anthem. University budget outlook not entirely bleak|Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens described the university’s budget outlook last week as “good news in the context of bad news.” Provost Peter Stearns expressed similar sentiments.
