Students rally in support of Trayvon Martin
|Members of the Mason community gathered Friday in a student-organized rally in support of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old Florida teenager whose controversial death at the hands of a neighborhood watch volunteer has sparked nationwide debate.
Jordan/Garrett: ‘Maltreatment,’ ‘lynchings’ need to end
|With no further recourse, ousted student body president and vice president candidates Michael Jordan and Donald Garrett released an official statement Wednesday saying they are now “throwing full support” behind Liam Hennelley and Mohamed Ahmed ticket.
The duo also again expressed strong emotion regarding student governance at Mason, which they equated to ‘maltreatment’ and ‘lynchings.’

The madness all started with the little-known No. 15 seed Norfolk State and their shocking win over the No. 2 seed Missouri Tigers, a team coming off a strong performance in the Big 12 Championship, and that many predicted to reach the Final Four.
This was the first win by a No. 15 seed over a No. 2 seed in the tournament in 11 years.

|The faculty review board tasked with the second stage of an appeal process upheld the Student Government Election and Disputes Commission’s decision to remove Michael Jordan and Donald Garrett’s ticket from the ballot for next year’s student body president and vice president.

|Mason’s third-annual GBAY raised $5,000 this year, one-third of the total from last year’s event. Despite the drop in funds raised, organizers say the growing atmosphere around the event was a sign of success.
