Mason men's basketball ends three-game home skid with last-second win over Tribe
|Finding the right balance between starters and bench, the George Mason men’s basketball team managed to erase a double-digit deficit in the second half to defeat conference rival William and Mary, 60-58 at the Patriot Center on Saturday.
Mason baseball routs Iona, 12-3 in first home game
|The George Mason baseball team opened their first home series against Iona University (1-3) on Friday afternoon at Spuhler Field in Fairfax. But the frigid, and at times, icy conditions didn’t cool down the hot bats of the Patriots (1-3), who collected 13 hits and scored a season-high 12 runs to defeat the Gaels, 12-3.
Mason junior pitcher Anthony Montefusco made the start, allowing one run on four hits through five innings while striking out seven.

Prior to boarding the team bus and heading south to Charleston, S.C. for The Citadel Memorial Challenge, George Mason University baseball coach Bill Brown, entering his 33rd season, sat in his office looking over some papers in preparation for the 2013 season.
For Brown, who has coached the Patriots to 873 wins throughout his tenure, the expectations for the upcoming season were the same as they have been in years past.

|Could you ever have imagined having the level of success this season in only your second year at University of Miami?
JL: We thought we were capable last year but injuries and suspensions set us back. I thought we had a great chance this season and I even told the Board of Trustees that I thought we would have the best season in Miami basketball history.
Have you seen a substantial difference in the level of competition in the ACC, not just on the floor, but in terms of recruiting?
Spuhler Field, Field House renovations set in motion to break ground in late spring
|The West Campus Connector is not the only construction that will be taking place on George Mason University’s West Campus in the coming months. According to a Fairfax Campus advisory group meeting on Dec. 12, 2012, facility projects to renovate Spuhler Field, the baseball stadium, and the Field House, the intercollegiate sports complex, are set to begin in late spring.

|As the final fireworks crackled above the Mason Pond Saturday night, R.J. Hunter emerged from the depths of the Patriot Center. A small cut near his right eye winced as a smile stretched across his youthful, freshman face.

The packed Patriot Center gives the home team an essential advantage, making the venue one of the most home-friendly atmospheres in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Mason Recreation sets the Valentine's Day mood with a couples fitness competition
|Mason Recreation will be hosting their first "Be My Fit Valentine" event on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Cage Gym of the Recreation and Athletic Complex.
The event gives couples the opportunity to compete with each other in a series of exercises, including wheelbarrow races, crab walks and other fitness activities.
