Giants Beat Redskins 16-7

In their season opener last Thursday night, the Washington Redskins fell 16-7 to the defending Super Bowl Champions the New York Giants. After a poor preseason against the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Redskin faithful were anticipating big results from new Head Coach Jim Zorn and their beloved team, but both failed to deliver with a game that included poor performances from both the offensive and defensive sides.

Olympic Swimming Debut For Sophomore Ziegler

While most George Mason University students spent their summer vacations visiting family and friends, 20-year-old Kate Ziegler participated in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China. In her Olympic debut, Ziegler competed in both the 400 meter and 800 meter freestyle events, but did not advance to the finals in either event.

With a time of 4:09.59, Ziegler came in fourth place in qualification heat six in the 400 meter freestyle, but she placed 14th overall. Ziegler also placed fourth in the 800 meter freestyle on Aug. 14 in qualification heat five with a time of 8:26.98 to advance to the final. She ranked 10th overall, just above American teammate Katie Hoff. Only the top eight times are selected to advance to the next round in each event.

Women's Rowing Interest Meeting

If you've ever been interested in the sport of rowing, now is your chance to find out more information about being a part of the Women's Rowing team here at George Mason University.

The team will be hosting a walk-on informational meeting on Tuesday, August 26th at 6:30pm in Student Union Building II, Room 5 and again on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30pm in Eisenhower, Room G101. No experience is necessary and everyone with an interest in rowing is invited to attend.

Ticket Policy Makes NFL Draft Not Worth The Trip

Every spring, the NFL Draft offers hope for every professional football fan across the nation, continent and world.

Whether you root for the 18-1 New England Patriots or the 1-15 Miami Dolphins, the draft gives fan bases from all over, a reason to believe in their teams after a two-day period in which franchises build for the future with promising college prospects.

Given the circumstances that surround the draft, the event sounds like a can’t-miss event for NFL fans to witness live, right? One would think so, being that so much emotion is exuded from the fans present at Radio City Music Hall at every draft — you know who you are, Jets fans.

Softball Drops Weekend Series to Madison

In the previous 11 games, the George Mason Patriots' softball team had been able to score enough runs to back up solid pitching performances.

This past weekend, the offense could not get anything going.

Despite Becky Anderson pitching her third complete game in two days, George Mason (19-29, 6-11 CAA) was not able to put any runs on the board against Meredith Felts and James Madison (27-20, 11-6 CAA) in a 3-0 defeat Sunday at George Mason Field.

UWC Invasion Brings Action to the Patriot Center

For those that have not caught on to the national craze of Mixed Martial Arts, MMA, Saturday was the perfect opportunity to get an up-close and personal look at one of the fastest rising sports in the world.

The Ultimate Warrior Challenge, UWC, brought Invasion to the Patriot Center, drawing a strong number in the seats of the arena nestled 20 minutes southwest of Washington, D.C.
