Leemhuis' walk-off sacrifice fly lifts Patriots over Fairfield, 7-6
|When Fairfield University’s Alex Witkus crossed home plate in the ninth inning, those in attendance at Spuhler Field in Fairfax let out a collective groan on Friday.
The run scored by Witkus gave the Stags a 6-5 lead — their first of the game — after the George Mason Patriots had scored all five of their runs in the first inning. But the Patriots would show resilience as they rallied back in the home half to steal a 7-6 win from the Stags.
Spuhler Field, Field House renovations set in motion to break ground in late spring
|The West Campus Connector is not the only construction that will be taking place on George Mason University’s West Campus in the coming months. According to a Fairfax Campus advisory group meeting on Dec. 12, 2012, facility projects to renovate Spuhler Field, the baseball stadium, and the Field House, the intercollegiate sports complex, are set to begin in late spring.

On a cold Saturday afternoon at Spuhler Field, the Mason Baseball team rallied back from a 4-0 deficit to win on a walk-off by Blaise Fernandez against the Rams of VCU, winning by a count of 5-4.
