International Café seeks to “encourage internationalization” among student body
The Office of International Programs and Services will be hosting their monthly International Café this Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the SUB I Patriot’s Lounge. The event will feature free food and beverages, games, and crafts from countries and regions such as Nigeria, Germany, Thailand, Peru, and the Caribbean, as well as indigenous American cuisine in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. All students, domestic and international, are welcome to attend.
Native American musician to perform at Johnson Center
Award-winning Cherokee recording artist, Michael Jacobs, will perform in the Johnson Center Atrium this Tuesday, Nov. 3, at noon. Jacobs has performed at numerous colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. His debut album Sacred Nation, received the 2003 Native American Music Award for Best Independent Recording. Sponsored by the Native American & Indigenous Alliance and the Office of Diversity Programs and Services, in conjunction with Native American Heritage Month.
Famous ventriloquist sure to bring ample laughs
Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, the top grossing live comedian in North America for the three consecutive years, is coming to the Patriot Center this Saturday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m., and he’s bringing friends. Fans can expect appearances from characters such as Peanut, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, and more. Tickets are $50.50 and can be purchased through all Ticketmaster outlets including the Patriot Center Box Office.
Workshop seeks to keep students out of procrastination trap
Finals are approaching, and in order to help students prepare, the Office of Counseling and Psychological Services is presenting the workshop “Overcoming Procrastination” this Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., in SUB I, room 3129. The workshop is intended to help students discover what makes them procrastinate and help them stay out of the “not now, later” trap.
Artist, photographer to give lecture in Art Building
Artist and photographer Eli Meir Kaplan will be presenting some of his recent work in a lecture this Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in room 1005 of the Art and Design Building. Kaplan is a lifestyle and portrait photographer working primarily in the editorial and commercial sectors. The lecture is free and open to the public. Sponsored by Focus Group, a student photography organization.
