|Fires in dormitories are rare occasions, but for students in President’s Park a mock dorm burn showed the reality of such an event.
The Environmental Health and Safety Office celebrated their Life Safety Fair, and with it came their annual dorm burn, on Monday. The mock dorm room was lit ablaze to show how quickly a fire can begin and consume a room.
All-clear after white powder evacuates Student Union Building II
|Student Union Building II was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a hazardous material scare in the building’s mailroom.
Mailroom employees received and opened a suspicious envelope containing “a white powdery substance” which hazmat officials has now determined to be an artificial sweetener, according to university police and school officials.

|Comedian and actor Seth Meyers didn’t know who George Mason was on Saturday morning. Come Saturday night, he had a new favorite founding father and according to his tweet, some “good times” at the Patriot Center.
Meyers, Saturday Night Live’s head writer and host of the show’s Weekend Update, performed a standup comedy routine at the headline event of this year’s Family Weekend.
