Men's Soccer Wins CAA Title
By Connect2Mason Blogger Chris Brooks
Well, it appears there is another team besides the men's basketball team that will dance on in to the NCAA Tournament at George Mason.
The Mason men's soccer team became the second #3-seed to capture a Colonial Athletic Association conference championship since March after they defeated the Northeastern Huskies 1-0 in Wilmington, NC, Sunday afternoon.
Mason (13-6-2) scored the lone goal in the 38th minute when senior Lucas Pardew sent a cross to senior Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe, and he beat the NU goalkeeper from five yards out. The goal was Adjeman-Pamboe's ninth goal of the season and his eighth goal in the last seven matches.
Mason Sports Blogger Previews Brown Game
By Connect2Mason Blogger Ryan Kish
Big night for Mason basketball, first home game, CAA champions banner to be raised, and the unveiling of a new athletic mascot. All this after coming off an impressive down the wire road victory to start off the new season. Fans should be glowing with excitement to see such a road victory when thinking back to how terrible some away games have been the last two seasons. Fans should also be gitty over the play so far from freshman Andre Cornelius and Ryan Pearson, who were inserted into the lineup early on Saturday and didn't look like they were playing their first Division I game. Darryl Monroe's play was probably the most exciting thing for Mason fans to see as he gives reason to think the front court won't be a glaring weakness this year.

The Division III team took a 13-point lead after guard Kevin Voelkel drilled a three-pointer with 7:51 left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets shot 13-for-23 from behind the arc, including 7-for-10 coming in the second half.

GMU Men's Basketball: Luke Hancock
By Connect2Mason Reporter Damien Sordelett.
DANVILLE – Luke Hancock was slacking off his defender, looking to trap a Guilford Tech ball handler in the back court. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward made a break on the ball, stripped it and went the other way, finishing with a two-handed flush.
When George Mason basketball coach Jim Larranaga recruited Hancock, a strong defensive philosophy was probably something that was stressed to the young swingman.
It must have worked. Larranaga and the rest of the staff made a good impression on Hancock, as he has verbally committed to play at Mason starting in 2009 and will sign his letter of intent later this month.
